Whether we want it or not, Wind generated energy is fast becoming a reality not only on a national scale, but specifically right here in Massachusetts. It is estimated that very soon of all electricity will be generated by wind facilities. Rather than watching this inevitable delivery system define itself, Local 103 has taken an aggressive and proactive approach to becoming a major player in the delivery of Wind Power in Massachusetts.
Cape Wind - The nation's largest proposed wind energy delivery system is currently seeking permits to operate right in our backyard, off the coast of Cape Cod and Nantucket. We have ensured our presence in this emerging market by securing the construction jobs for this 100+ wind turbine ocean facility and we are actively supporting Cape Wind through the permitting process.
Local 103 Wind Generator - After nearly a year of planning and design work, Local 103 last month was awarded permits to construct a 100 k/W Wind Turbine to be located on our Freeport Street property. Utilizing independent grant money, this turbine will not only allow us to produce wind energy, it will also serve to illustrate to all that Local 103 remains a leader in all emerging energy fields.
